It’s a political analogy & I suspect it was intended to be thus & that’s why our English teacher gave us the Triffid assignment. Only those who see the Triffids will survive long-term. - Yes, the Triffids are blind, despite that if the people were also blind they were killed off by the Triffids. Only the sighted people could evade the Triffids. In time, the sighted people rigged generators to power their electric fence to keep the Triffids out of their life. But there was no happy ending, the Triffids remained a threat to the people forever. For the added touch of surrealism, the 1962 film is it has a credited actor Janette & directed by person with family name FRANCIS. - It's also not Australian for people to act like a galah. My Campbelltown High (NSW) c1970 English class had to read this. Because it's fiction (and I don't read fiction) I only skimmed it to get my pass on this homework topic. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Day_of_the_Triffids & https://www.theaustralian.com.au

There's ONLY ONE ELECTION ISSUE

There is and has always been only one election issue since small groups of people decided they wanted to control large groups of people – crime. Specifically crime in parliament, crime in judiciary, crime in all government departments. Top down government crime. Solve that election issue, and every other (fake election issue) community problem will be solved as a matter of natural process.

The problem with Australia is no different to the same problems in every government globally. People elect fools to run their country because fools make up the majority of every group of people that ever existed. What’s the evidence? Name any country whose happy with their head of government. Not the published spin, the truth of it which can only be done in secret surveys. Every person you speak to in confidence anywhere across this planet will tel you they don’t like their Prime Minister or President or Emperor because … (they did something seriously wrong, or failed to prevent something seriously wrong.)

Whenever someone comes along threatening to “... rock the boat” attempting to expose the crimes of a government, the fools are attracted to that person like (fictional) Triffids are to sound. Destroying their reputation by playing on their weaknesses. Like the disgraced leader of the Liberal Party in South Australia who, probably not coincidentally, shares a name with a political presenter on television. I’m guessing he was a good lawyer with a soul, or said or did something to indicate he has a soul. But then again, he’s on TV now, so probably not. That book is still open, I don’t have that answer.

When it's someone like me who has no weaknesses (yes that’s true) the fools converge like congealed blood brainstorming to make shit up to destroy their public persona.

Fools run government because the majority of the populations in every country are fools. Appropriately, ending in another idiom: “Birds of a feather flock together.”

Addendum: Happy birthday to me. I'm 70 today, at 10:40 pm Cooma NSW time. Why has it taken me so long to stand for federal election? "Fools rush in where angles fear to tread."
